I thought they were going to produce a limited edition every year, and they just got off track with the timing.
I like the limited editions, but since we have Lindsey and Kailey, and Marisol will hopefully be coming in the next few weeks, I feel like we are always going to have to get them. I know if I passed on one, right after they sell out, I'll want one!
I wish they would do more limited edition outfits for the historicals, though. Didn't they only do that once? Did they specifically say that the short stories outfits were limited?

I don't feel the urge to purchase every LE nor do I feel the urge to purchase every historical. I just pick and choose. I surprised myself by getting Marisol. I thought the only LE that I would be interested in would be Asian. But my daughter loves the Hispanic dolls. But there is no way we are getting all the dolls. Kaitlin already has more dolls than any one little baby needs.

I know we will not be getting all the LE dolls either. Tori's grandmother wants her to have the original (her words) historicals but I'm not really even for that. She had Nicki (Bitty) for almost 5 years before Molly came along. Nicki was so special and really like a member of our family. I'd rather her have one or two really loved dolls. I hope that makes sense.
Between Tori, my nieces, my sister and myself, we have 5 of the historicals. This summer we are planning a trip to Chicago. My niece with Samantha wants Nellie. Good Choice. Tori kinda wants Marisol but doesn't know for sure. The youngest has Kit and wants to wait for Ruthie. Anyway, I hope for now their dolls are really special to them. They can "collect" as they get older.

I sure hope they release a limited edition every other year. With one being released every year that would be just way too many dolls for us! We have not gotten Marisol yet because I just found out about her yesterday!

With the current popularity of AG's, I expect Mattel will release a new LE doll every year for both lines...historical and AGOT. I know most of us say we won't purchase every new doll, but it seems that there are a lot of people willing to make up for that. Mattel is in it for the money, after all.
I probably won't get Elizabeth unless she's really breathtaking, but I expect to keep purchasing the LE AGOT's unless I really don't like the doll offered for that year.

I wish they wouldn't make a new LE doll every year, either. For me, it kind of takes away some of the specialness of the dolls when they just come out one right after the other. Nellie just came out this summer, and now we already have Marisol less than a year later, plus the three new AGTs from this fall. I like it better when there is more space between new dolls - so I actually have time to get used to a new doll and her collection before the next comes along, if that makes sense. I haven't been quite as excited to see the newer dolls this past year because there just hasn't been the same build-up for me. Now I just think, "oh, ANOTHER doll?" I mean, Marisol just came out this month and we are supposedly getting an Elizabeth doll this fall? It's too much too quickly for me, I guess. I like the wait and the anticipation of waiting for something new!

Does anyone know what the LE number amount is produced? Maybe I missed the amount being made of each limited LE. Is it 500, 1000, 1500, or ? Also I order Kailey I believe in June just before she sold out for my Granddaughters birthday in August.
I know when other doll companies produce a limited number such as 500 or higher they always say the amount that is produced. Even my old Cabbage Patch Kids have #/# of amount for the head mold and the bodies are signed a different color for the year they were produced.

AG does not release the number of LEs they produce and I have never seen any figures which would give even a hint. But, last year when Kailey was still for sale, we went to AGPC and were in an area for employees only to pick up our lost BB. On the back of the door leading back onto the sales floor, there was a sign saying Kailey goal: $500,000. That was just for the last 5 or 6 months of sales, only Kailey and her accessories and only at AGPC.

well this really is mixed news. It's exciting on one hand as I love to see new things, but I don't see how we could keep up if we end up loving all the dolls. Like when you're sometimes glad that you don't like something?
Guess we'll just have to wait and see. I am excited for Elizabeth, Felicity's movie, and any new things that they bring back or introduce for her. Did Nellie come out in July or August? I just cant remember. So either way, it really won't be all that long from now it seems.

Laurie, I believe it was in July because my SIL was still on maternity leave when I purchased the Nellie/Samantha pair. If it was August, it was very early on in August. We will be getting Elizabeth too. I guess I have resolved a long time ago that we will not be getting all the dolls. My goodness, Kaitlin has and I have 6 AG dolls, 6 MAC dolls, and Bitty. I know the Bitty twins will be joining us soon. You would think that would be all the dolls that one Mommy daughter pair would need.
